Label Impressions, Inc., the Orange, CA-based label manufacturer, was awarded the prestigious Gold Ink Award for its Micro ECL, touted as world’s smallest multi-panel label. Label Impressions specializes in folded booklet and expanded content label (ECL label) production, among other products. 

Designed to meet the needs of cosmetic lipstick, lip and eye pencil products the MicroECL is sized at a mere ¼”, or just over 6mm and boasts crystal clear three point type in both reverse and positive print.  The label was developed at the request of a prestige cosmetics brand struggling to balance regulatory/labeling requirements with aesthetically appealing, clean packaging. 

“Our client had a very specific requirement.  They needed to include a lot of information in a very small format.  They wanted to accurately display the precise shade of the lipstick while including important regulatory information on a very small, luxurious component.  This would require a very small, but functional expanded content label with accurate color and clear, fine type. Working with our inside team of experienced engineers and committing many hours of press time we were able to successfully achieve the client’s goals while breaking the record for the worlds smallest 2-ply label,” says Label Impression’s Enterprise Sales Manager Anna Alexanian. 

Label Impressions has filed for a patent on its design which includes special features and proprietary method of application enabling precise placement and lot coding on the ECL.

The Gold Ink Award titled, “They Said it Couldn’t Be Done” compliments the company’s six other industry awards granted in 2018 including two World Label Awards and a DuPont Industry Innovation Award for special effects.
